Serving God, Home and Country

Serving Our Community

“We want a society founded on service.”

– DAR Founder Eugenia Washington

Since the 1901 establishment of the Arizona State Society, DAR, members have made a difference in our communities.

Arizona State Society, DAR, are passionate about educating America’s youth. Our chapters offer many resources that teachers may find useful when teaching subjects such as the American Revolutionary War, family history and genealogy, the colonial period, and early America.

To encourage the promotion of historic preservation, education, and patriotism, DAR established a variety of contests and awards. These awards are presented to recognize and encourage the efforts of deserving students who demonstrate:

  • academic excellence
  • good citizenship
  • knowledge of American history

Since 1901, the Arizona State Society, DAR, has recognized the accomplishments of others with citizenship and service awards. These include the DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest for high school seniors, Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Medals and awards for community volunteers.

Educators, parents, and students are encouraged to contact their local DAR chapters for more detailed information on programs provided in their community.
