NSDAR and America250!

National Partnership

DAR is the first heritage society to formally partner with America250, the nationwide commemoration of America’s 250th Anniversary in 2026 led by the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission. The agreement outlines a number of initiatives developed by the DAR to honor Revolutionary War Patriots, engage youth through contests and educational programming, and support efforts to better tell the story of underrepresented and diverse Patriots who helped to win the American War of Independence.

America250 is a multiyear effort to commemorate the semi-quincentennial, or 250th Anniversary, of the United States. The purpose of the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, created by Congress, and the corresponding America250 Foundation, is to catalyze a more perfect union by designing and leading the most comprehensive and inclusive celebration in our country’s history. America250 represents a coalition of public and private partners all working to create initiatives and programs that honor our first 250 years and inspire Americans to imagine our next 250. The commemoration period began in 2020, culminates on July 4, 2026, and officially concludes in 2027.

Arizona’s replica Liberty Bell tours all 15 counties with historic documents, art pieces, and interactive exhibits.

SUFFS is a “thrilling, inspiring and dazzlingly entertaining” (Variety) musical that confronts the unfinished business of equality in America. The show recently won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best New Musical.

Opening Night on Tuesday, October 14, New York-based producers and creatives of SUFFS will be in attendance for Opening Night, along with special guests and America250 dignitaries.

“To be able to partner on opening night for SUFFS at ASU Gammage is an incredible and fitting event for what Arizona America250 wants to uplift,” says Anna Needham, Chair of the Arizona America250 Arts, Museums & Cultural Institutions Subcommittee. “The show demonstrates how the arts can help us understand our past to envision the future we want for the next 250 years and the legacy we want to leave behind.”

This event is part of a broader effort by the Arizona America250 Commission to commemorate the Semiquincentennial with programs that elevate the voices of those who shaped the American story, and those still shaping it today.
